The South’s most witty and innovative teams will race each other down the twists and turns of North Avenue. Red Bull Soapbox Race is a single day of thrills, so the number of contestants will be limited. Teams are chosen based on creativity, technical feasibility of the craft build, craft safety and originality. Those interested in participating will need to submit their entries by August 1, 2015 by visiting redbull.com/soapboxATL. The event is free to participate and attend.

The glowing procession of light, music, and color carry over the entire length of the Eastside Trail, opening Art on the Atlanta BeltLine the Saturday after Labor Day each year.

The Art on the Atlanta BeltLine exhibition and the Lantern Parade are free and open to the public. Your participation is the magic of the Lantern Parade. Hold up a light for the Atlanta BeltLine!

  • Line-up begins at 7:15 p.m. at Irwin and Krog Street.
  • Step-off will be at 8:15 p.m. and the parade will go north to Piedmont Park.

Five amazing bands will also join the parade:

  • 8:15 – The Seed & Feed Marching Abominables
  • 8:30 – Wasted Potential Brass Band
  • 8:45 – Mausiki Scales and the Common Ground Collective
  • 9:00 – The Freedom Marching Band
  • 9:15 – The Black Sheep Ensemble

Hot air balloon festival in callaway garden $10 per person cala

Soar into September at our 17th annual Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival. The weekend kicks off with the extraordinary Friday Night Balloon Glow and continues all weekend long. Watch beautiful balloons in flight or hop in a basket for your own tethered balloon ride. Saturday is filled with family-friendly events, including live music, beach activities, a Kids Zone and much more. There’s something for everyone with a classic car show, disc dog demonstrations, a pyrotechnic skydiving demonstration, as well as a 5K Race and Triathlon event. If you’re a photography buff, you can sign up for our hands-on “Mastering Night Photography” course. Plus, you’ll find drink specials and sports on the televisions at the Beach Bar as well as some of Atlanta’s top-rated food trucks throughout the festival. Cap off the weekend with a final balloon glow Sunday night on Robin Lake Beach. With this exciting line-up of events, surrounded by the natural beauty of Callaway Gardens, there’s no better way to say “farewell” to Summer 2015.
